Entrepreneur Work Visa

The Entrepreneur Work Visa has replaced the former Long Term Business Visa policy. It provides temporary work visas that allow self-employment in New Zealand for applicants who wish to either establish, purchase a new business or buy shares into a current business in New Zealand. Generally applicants are required have a minimum capital investment of NZ$100,000, excluding working capital and meet or exceed a pass mark on a scale which awards points for factors such as their age, the level of investment, business experience, creation of full-time employment for NZ residents or citizens or for specific export businesses which benefit NZ's economy, location of their business and for having support from the local government authority, etc.

Applicants' partners and dependent children are also issued temporary visas so they can live with the applicant in New Zealand.

An Entrepreneur Work Visa is generally granted for a total period of up to 3 years, in two stages. It leads to permanent residency under the Entrepreneur Residence category.
